Yesterday morning about 8 o’clock
Douglass, the five year old son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. L. Moorehead, accidently
feli into the well, which, fortu
nately, was not a deep one, it being
only about fifteen feet to the water.
Officers Lockhart and Gilmer and Mr.
Champ Davis happened to be near
ami went at once to the rescue. As
soon as they reached the well officer
Lockhart entered and went down on
the wall as rapidly us possible, and
upon reaching the water found that
little Douglass had risen and wus
clinging to the bucket. He to k him
from the water and made his way
back to tiie top, when Mr Davis
reached down and took the child from
him. The child wus found to be
c nsiderably shocked, though ap
parently not seiiously hurt. Res
toratives were given andtteuder hands
of neighbor women were ut once busy
caring for the little ooe as women only
can do. Dr. C. A. Jefferies soon ar
rived and took charge of the ease and
satisfied the anxious parents and
friends that the little fellow was isi
good shape and would be himself
again in a short time.
Douglass is- a bright little hoy and
stood his mishap like a little man.
