stantly sending forth sweet sounds
the past week. In fact it lias been a
week of marriages. Tuesday’s mail

Haines, of Jonesville, and a brother
of genial Boyd L. Haines, of this
city. He is a young man of piomise
and will make his mark.

On Tuesday evening at the home of
Mr. G. Frank Browning, by Rev. B.
1*. Robertson, Mr. Zed F. Hope and
Miss Mandy Rippy were united in
the holy bonds of matrimony. This
was a Gretna Green ailuir. For some
time the young people have been
keeping company with each other,
much to the objection of the young
ladies’ parents, but they decided to
end it all and on Tuesday evening
they went to Mr. Browning’s house,
got Mr. Browning to go after the
minister and in a few minutes all was
over. The irate parents have allow
ed their anger to subside and invited
the young folks to come home and
all is as lovely as it should be.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. J. J.
Rippy, who conducts a livery stable
in this city, and she numbers her
friends by the score, while the groom
is the generous and impulsive assist
ant of Mr. H. 1’. Knox in the ton-
sorial parlors. He is a young man
of many good qualities and will no
doubt prove worthy of the prize he
has won.

Mrs. Harriett Betty, on Sunday after

large circle of friends, Miss Minnie
G. Betty was wedded to Mr. I). K.

Joseph Watkins and Miss Ida Lemons,
Mr. Thomas Lockhart and Miss
Alie Betty. The contracting parties
belong to high and honorable fami

are at present boarding with Mr. and
Mrs. W. M. Sanders.

and Miss Ivina Blanton, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Blanton, drove
over to Clifton to the Lome of Mr.
Lavender’s mother and were married.

Galfney Carpet Manufacturing Com
pany. They will reside in Galfney.

young people and trust that their
high ideals of life may be attained
and that their pathways through life
