anything, not even a chair. Iteven hurt
me to ride or w alk any distance. Now
I can do all this, and 1 believe more,
and never feel the effects of it. I feel
so proud of the way it has brought me
out that I tell it far and near. 1 can
heartily recommend j’our medicine to
any woman suffering from female dis

your medicine will do just what you
say it will. I thank you, Doctor, a
thousand times for your treatment. I
shall recommmd your medicine .vher-

me and I know it will do the same for
others. 1 feel that there are thousands
of other women who would, after using
your treatment. ;.s I did, be thankful.
I am »o glad I got your treatment.

Aimer l oiter Sleets W ith a Serious Mis
fortune.
Nearly everybody in Gaffney knows
Aimer Folger. cumo to Gaffney
not quite two years ago and for over
a year worked for the Southern Kail-
way Co. He had, by his genial, sun
shiny nature made friends with all
whom he came in contact with, and
the news that he had mot with an
accident that would necessitate the
amputation of his right arm was re
ceived with expressions of deepest
regret by all who knew him. 1 he
news came Saturday morning and a
few hours Inter the unfortunate young
man was brought to the city on the
vestibule.
About two months ago .Mr. Folger
was promoted and given a plucy on
the road. The day he went to Char
lotte to be assigned he was as bright
and cheerful as ever it became the
lot of man to he. Little did he dream
that in so short a time he would be a
cripple for life.
.Mr. Folger was engaged with the
shifting crew that works between
(iastonia and Gaffney. Saturday morn
ing the crew were at w’ork at Gasto
nia and Mr. Folger was coupling cars
when he accidentally got his right
arm caught and crushed. His right
arm was crushed from the elbow to
the wrist and so severe was the injury
that amputation was necessary. The
operation was performed yesterday
afternoon. At last accounts Mr. Fol
ger was doing very well. He has lost
none of his cheerfulness and keeps in
remarkable good spirits. It will he
several weeks before he w ill be able
to be out.
Nothing but expressions of regret
has been heard on all sides and the
young man and his family have the
sympathy of all Gaffney on account
of the misfortune.
A Model Ginnery.
A Ledger representative made a
call at the model steam ginnery of
T. I. Walker, last Saturday. He
found the genial, hustling proprietor
as busy as a bee in a tar bucket, but
not too busy to show him around.
Mr. Walker has a model .f L-"»<H> cotton
gin plant. The gins are the T. H.
Lutnmus Sons Co., make and pro
duce a very clean seed. The capac
ity of the gin is sixty hales a day, or
a bale every ten minutes. The press
is run by steam and a hale of cotton
can be pressed in a remarkably short
while.' The seed cotton is lifted
from the wagon by air and is not
touched by hand until it is put in
the wagon ginned and haled. It is
is near an automatic plant as it is
possible to be.
Mr. Walker, the proprietor, is a
new man in Gaffney hut he has had
twenty year’s experience in his line
and is thoroughly conversant with
his business.
Murdert-d in Houtli Curulltiit.
“Ed Hayes, a young white man, a
shoemaker, who lived here last year
and year before, was murdered in
South Carolina some weeks ago. He
disappeared and his brother-in-law
reported that he had been drowned
while bathing in a river with him.
Hayes’ body was found in the river
lust week and it was discovered that
he hud been kill d and thrown into
the river. The brother-in-law, whose
name we cannot recall, has been
jailed charged with the murder.
Hayes worked for Jno. 1*. Ilean.”
The above is taken from the Lin-
colnton Journal. If The Journal is
talking about our Ed Hayes it is
talking through its cohering on its
•ranium, for our Ed is How engaged
in making good roads under the sup
ervision of Cupt. Coyle, and he is a
very live member indeed.

Kev. Mr. Shimmon, a Persian who
is studying at the Columbia Theolog
ical Seminary, delivered a lecture at
the Fresbyteaian church Sunday af
ternoon which delighted the entire au
dience. Mr. Shimmon speakshroken
English and his auditor must give
the best of attention in order to un
derstand him. He is not. however,
without a vein of humor His subject
was “.Mohammedism,” hut it might
better have been termed “The Relig
ions of Persia.” The speakerjgave a
very interesting account of the relig
ions of his native land.
Mr. Shimmon became a Christian
several years ago, and two years ago
he left his wife and children to come
to this country to study theology.
It will take him about two years
more to complete his studies.

The election on the question of
issuing .f.‘»,U0o additional waterworks
and #:>,U00 additional electric light
bonds last Friday resulted in a unani
mous vote for the bonds. There was
not a single vote against the issue.
The progressive people of Gaffney
are always true to their interest and
we hope to see them treated in a fair
and liberal manner in regard to the
establishment of the electric lights
and the laying of the additional
water mains.

At the laying of the corner stone
of the First Baptist church last Mon
day our venerable and honored friend,
’Squire H. G. Gaffney, performed
what may prove to he his last public
duty as an officer of the church. It
was ho who placed the box contain
ing the articles in the receptacle.
Mr. Gaffney is getting finite feeble.
His gonial countenance has been
missed from our thoroughfares for
some time and each public appear
ance is destined to ho his last. The
town never possessed a more devoted
citizen, nor one who had more public
spirit.

The Gaffney Carpet Mill has pre

This is a princly gift on the part of
President Bierck and his company
and will be duly appreciated by

There are two things that the buying public are always lookingfor. They get them from us
with every purchase. We never fail to give both every time. They will make any business a
success. They have made us. Those two things are, the lowest prices and the best qualities
possible for the money. When these things are assured, together with a guarantee that you
can get your money back, if you want it, or exchange goods for others when not satisfactory,
it becomes a pleasure to buy goods and gives you a feeling of safety and confidence that you
are getting your money’s full worth.
Our competitors talk about our selling trash because they can make no other answer to
our incomparable values and irresistable and unmatchable prices, but we stand flat-footed
behind our goods with the above guarantee, and the customer cannot be found who will say
that we have failed to make it good. We know our goods and we sell good goods at trash
prices, because we are here to stay and are building up a trade and a reputation for all time.
Here are a few prices that will give you a fair idea of how our prices run through the store.
We do not try to work the old wornout trick of throwing out a few articles at cost as baits
simply to make people think that everything we sell is as cheap when it is not. Everything in
our store will be found to be cheaper than can be bought elsewhere. If anybody offers you
anything cheaper than we do, we say to you frankly, buy it, for it is certainly a bargain. But
before you buy anything,
