court house to Grenard street has
been obstructed for two or more
weeks. This is an important street,

Deals are being made in water pow
ers down on Broad River, in this
county, which indicates immense de
velopment and large enterprises on
the river in the near future. These
enterprises arc bound to come. Such
powers as are on Broad River in this
county will not now he allowed to
long remain latent among our outer-
prising Cherokcoans.
T. I. Walker, a prominent citizen
of Woodrulf, Spartanburg county,
while in the city last week bought
some valuable property in this city,
and will move his family here in a
few weeks and begin to improve it.
Among the lirst of Mr. Walker’s im
provements will he a first-class gin
nery of one of the latest improved
systems. Mr. Walker is a sterling
gentleman, of fine business habits,
and he and his family will receive a
hearty welcome in GalTney, the grow
ing cilv of the Piedmont.
