Everything is now in readiness for the Fourth of July celebration. The committees have completed their work, except us to some minor de tails, and we are simply waiting for the day to arrive. The parade will form at 9 o’clock sharp in the vacant lot adjacent the Southern freight depot in the follow ing order: Mounted police escort. Distinguished guests in carriages. Gaffney Cornet Band in band wagon. Tournament riders on horseback, dressed in riding costumes. Bicycle riders on decorated wheels, Carriages, floats, etc. Capt. James B. Bell -will be the marshall of the day, while Col. J. G. Wardlaw will command the bicycle brigade. Col. Wardlaw requests that every bicycle rider in the city, ladies and gentleman, boys or girls, be present promptly at 8:4.) a. m. on their wheels. It is also requested that every rider decorate his or her wheel. The line will be formed promptly at li o’clock and the column will move up to the tournament truck on Victoria avenue, when it will dis burse. The tournament racing will begin promptly at 10 o’clock. The racing will continue for about an hour and a half, when the crowd will repair to Limestone Springs where the remainder of the program of the day will be carried out. On arriving’at the springs the bicycle racing will commence. This will be at 11:80 o’clock. The bicycle racing will last about an hour or an hour und a half. At 1 o'clock dinner will be served. Messrs. McGuinn, Fincken Clary have purchased the barbecue privi lege and will serve a first-class din ner at a nominal price. At 2 o'clock Senator John L. Mc- Laurin will deliver the oration. His address will be a purely historical and patriotic one. Senator McLaurin is one of the most polished orators in the United States Senate and it will be a genuine treat to hear him on this occasion. At 3 o’clock the foot races, sack races, and other grotesque amuse ments will take place. At 4 o’clock the game of ball be tween Kings Mountain and Gaffney will take place. This will be one of the red hot numbers on the day’s program. There is not the least doubt but that a great crowd will be present. On nil sides the Ledger hears that the people are making preparations to come. Everybody will be welcome and as many as can are expected to come and enjoy themselves. Gaffney will seep open house that day and all her friends, and her enemies, too, if she has any, will be most cor dially welcomed. Early in the week the following general invitation was issued: You and your friends are cordially Invited to visit Gaffney on July 4tli, IS’JS, the one hundred and twenty-second an niversary of tlie Independence of the United States, and participate in the general exercises of tin* day. At 10:30 o’clock an excursion train will arrive over the O. li. &C. rail way from Camden, bringing a great crowd from all points along the line of the 0. R. & C. The early train from the south on the Southern will bring a large crowd, while those from the north along the line of the Southern will come in on the evening of the 3rd. Great crowds will come in from all over the country in private convey ances. The indications areAhat the crowd will be fully us large as that of two years ago, on which occasion wo bad nearly eight thousand peo ple L here. Business will be practically sus pended and everybody in town will do all in their power to make the visitors enjoy themselves. A Car Load of Shoes.
