The Ledger's suggestion to cele brate the 4th of July has met with general approval and it is most likeiy that we will have a celebration to equal, if not surpass, the celebration of two years ago. With this end in view a canvass of the city will be made and later on a general meeting of the citizens will be held to discuss the project and to map out a program for the occasion. All the persons so far spoken to on the subject have signified their intention to lend their moral and financial support to the celebration. The officials of the Gaff ney Manufacturing Co., have intima ted that if the celebration was on the scale proposed that they would shut down the mill for that day and allow the operatives the privilege of partic ipating. Now the thing to do is for everybody to go to work and talk up the celebration and encourage it in every manner possible, and, when the time comes, to subscribe as lib erally us their means will allow. Let us have a day that will be a credit to Gaffney and Cherokee county. And we will add just here that we expect our friends who reside in the country to htlp us out in this matter. We cannot do anything without their aid and we expect them to swell the attendance and help push matters along. A Gaffney Lawyer Retained. . T. B.
