Prompt!}’ »t 11 o’clock, n. m., last Saturday, u number of Sunday School Workers met in the First llaptist Church in this city, lor the purpose of organizing the Cherokee County Interdenominational Sunday School Convention. On motion of Prof. R. (>. Sabiis, J. L. Strain was made tem porary chairman, and Luther Byars, secretary. After singing an appropriate piece by the congregation, and prayer by Rev. I. J. Robert son a committee of three was appointed to nominate permanent officers for the Convention—the fnl owing were appointed: Rev. B. P. Robertson. \\\ F. McArthur and \V. G.. Austell, who reported the following nomina tions : For President—R. O. Sams. Secretary—J. J.. Strain. Treasurer—J. F. Garrett. Also, one Vice President in each township, us follows: Cherokee Township (Spartanburg.) Memory Scruggs. Cherokee (York.) R. E. Porter. Dray ton vi lie—William Jefferies. Gowdeysvillc—T. M. Littlejohn. Limestone—P. H. Byars. White Plains—Luther Guthrie. For Executive Committee; B. P. Robertson, J. G. Black. J. G. Ward- law. After the adoption of the report the president thanked the Conven tion for the honor conferred upon him, and assured it that notiiing which lay in his power would bo left undone to make the con.ention a success. The following committee on con stitution was appointed: II. P. Grif fith. T. M. Littlejohn, W. T. Horton. While this committee was at work the president called upon the different 1 delegates to make annual reports of their schools, together with that of >thc rnot represented, of which they * could speak. These reports ware generally satisfactory, and in the ag- gvesjut* Jovcr}l,2(X> scholars were re ported as enrolled in the Sunday 'vdsools of the county, while several schools were not reported. Prof. W. Convention Tlie Limeston** Township Interde nominational .Sunday School Conven tion will convene; in the First Bap’i-t church in this city next Sabbath morning at 10 o’clock. Two sessions will be held—a forenoon and after noon session. An excellent program bus been arranged and an intereslii g un’d profitable hour is in store fir those who attend.
