In the bill creating Cheroke^ county there were several changes from the original as drafted by the convention assembled here for that purpose. The most important changes are tlms** relating to salaries and the eighteenth section, which allows the Compt roller Genera! to draw his warrant on the State Treasurer and allows t hat. ofTi- cial to pay tiie same in favor of the trustees of Cherokee county fora sum sufficient to pay, at the usual rate, the expenses of the late election, the claims to be presented to and amlitid by the Comptroller General, and the sum “shall be refunded and repaid to t!i*- State Treasurer by the County Treasurer of Cherokee county on the warrant of the County Super visor of Cherokee county out of the liist taxes therein collected for ordi nary county purposes.” As to who is responsible for the change of the salaries of the Clerk of Court and the Sheriff, we do cot know, and we do not cure. The fact is they have been changed and that settles it. We are told that the con stitution prevented us fixing these ealarh s, but we cannot understand why the fonsiitution could not pre vent sa fixengthc salary of the Treas urer us well. Now as t“ the eighteenth section ot the bill. There seems to have been a mistake made in that section. Mr. Archer say* it was necessary (a* w ill be st en by Mr. Roller's card in another column), hut Mr. Archer could not possibly have been informed of 11 e of t he pledge of t he town coun cil of Gafleey. The town council i> responsible for all the expense. They assn Hied all the expense.
