The Southern’s Exhibit at the Tennes
see Centennial Exposition.
Arrangements have been perfected
by which the Southern Railway’s ter
ritory will be represented at the Ex
position which opens at Nashville oa.
May 1. This, like former exhibits
made by that company, will include
sample specimens |of mineral, agri
cultural, forest and other products of
the Slates of Virginia, North and
South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama,
Mississippi, East Tennessee and Ken
tucky. This Company’s exhibit at
the Atlanta and Pittsburg Epositian
attracted the attention of the agri-
culturist, manufacturer, minor, stock
raiser and others, and did more to
educate the visitors to an apprecia
tion of the great wealth and possibiT^
ities of the Fouth than any other one
exhibit that was shown, and it is the
policy of the Company to actively
continue this method of advertising.
The scenic beauties of the country
through which the Southern Railway
runs will not bo neglected in this ex
hibit.
Practically, this exhibit will be a
bureau of information, so that visi
tors from the North and abroad can
nbtain specific data relative to all
branches of industry in and tributary
to the vast number of points on the
Southern Railway.
This exhibit is under the direction
of the Land and Industrial Depart
ment of the Southern Railway with
headquarters at Washington, D. C.,
and persons located along that sys
tem having exhibit material that
they think will interest the public
and thereby help advance the best in
terest of the section from which it
comes, should at once commuincate
with the agent of that department.
This is an exhibit in which every
citizen of this section should be in
terested, and we hope that some of
our readers can supply something to
represent our territory

Stacy’s Hank. All the capital stock

terprise which has not been attempted
by any other newspaper in South
Carolina. Knowing tho push and

Killed on the Rail.
II. L. Parks brought a fine horse
from his homo in Cabarrus county,
N. C., a couple of weeks ago, which
lie intended to use to deliver bread
from the Star Bakery. Tho animal
got out last Saturday and was making
its way back to North Carolina. It
got on the trestle over Cherokee
creek and a through freight came
along, knocking it off the track and
killing it. Mr. Parks valued the
horse ul $L'*0. He will endeavor to
recover da mages.
A New Comer.
George W, Justice, an attorney of
Asheville, X.. C., hag decided to lo
cate in Gaffney. Mr. Justice arrived
in tho city Monday night, and has
