Chief Camp arrested a man by tne

night for selling whiskey.
Oscar Wood, of this city, owns a
number of thoroughbred horses and
will enter them for the spring races
in Memphis.
Manager W. C. Hamrick, of the
Company Store, has heen suliering
from an attack of appendicitis. He
is reported as improving.

The bad weather last week inter
rupted work on the City Hall and
Wood’s building on Fredrick street.
Hut they have been almost covered
with workmen this week.
J. It. Atkinson, H. S. Withers and
Jaminie Lucas, of lllackshurg, con
tributed largely to the success of the
dance Tuesday night. They are three

the Gaffney Male and Female Semi
nary next Monday night for the bene

T. A. Camp has closed his cotton
and pro luce exchange for the season
and lias returned to Spartanburg to
live. GalTney regrets to lose Tom
; and his efficient operator, Bert Ram
sey. Tom is a genial, whole-soul
gentlemen, one -who is destined to
make friends everywhere, while Bert
i is as clever as can be. The Leduer
! deemed it a priviledge to number
them among its friends and would
like to chronicle their return at any
