THE WEEKLY LEDGER : GAFFNEY, S. 0., DECEMBER 19, 1895.
LITTLE LOCAL LEDOBRITBS.
the
Rapid Approach * *
Brings to our mind the many things needed for
our own use and things to those to whom we are
due our annual XMAS GIFT. We have many things
good and useful and now, as at all other times, you
want the “best thing for the money.” If you have
visited the Atlanta Exposition you no doubt saw
this sign, “Not How Cheap but How Good,” and
that should be the idea of every one in buying
goods. We do not dote on cheapness but on
quality, and will always give as good things as can
be bought for the money.

There will be services at Limestone
church Sunday afternoon at 8 o’clock.
The farmers in this section know
their busines, attend to it and call no
man master.
There will be regular services at
the Baptist church next Sunday
morning and evening.
The services at Providence last
Sunday were exceedingly interesting
as it was quite a missionary meet
ing.
The dispensary is said to be making
money now with y prospect of a gen
eral advance in prices on the first of
January.

We received information last night
just as we were going to press of the
deatli of Mrs. Jessie Hollis. Mrs.
Hollis was a widow and died at an
advanced age.
Two negro hot suppers in Newberry
county last week resulted in the cor
oner holding two inquests over the
dead bodies of two negroes killed at
said suppers. The negroes who done
the killing skipped.
To enumerate all the different htis-
iness in Gaffney and elaborate on
them as they deserve would more
than fill our Christmas number. We
have all the business in full blast
here from tiny shops to mammoth
merchantilo emporiums and first
class schools, all in tin* hands of
wide-awake and appreciative people.
