Right Arm Paralyzedl Saved from St. Vitus Dance. “Our daughter, Blanche, now fif teen years of age, had been terribly afflicted with nervousness, and had lost the entire use of her right arm. We feared St. Vitus dance, and tried the best physicians, with no benefit. She has taken three bottles of Dr. Miles’ Nervine and has gained 31 pounds. Her nervousness and symp- tomsuf St. Vitus dance arc'entirely gone, she attends school regularly, and has recovered complete use of her arm, her anpetito is splendid.” MltS. U. n. WOOD AND WHEAT WILL BUILD. A Three-Story Brick Building to be Supplied With Electric Lights, Call Bells and a Water Works System. A few more pounds Fancy'Candy at . Respectfully, of W. M. WEBSTER, Jr. A Sparkling Display A modern hotel! That’s what Gaffney is’to have. It’s not to be a hotel on paper, but one of brick and stone and lumber and iron. What has been one of Gaffney’s greatest needs for the past few years is a hotel in keeping with tlie prog ress of the city. It should be with a feeling of pride to every citizen of the place that they receive the intelli gence that this long-needed improve ment is to be had. Last Saturday Messrs. A. .V Wood and H. 1). Wheat, two gentlemen who arc known for their progressive ideas and the ability to carry them out, and who never lose an opportu nity to do somet hing for Gaffney, pur chased the Samuel .lefferies hotel property. Their attention is to build a modern hotel with all the latest improvements. These gentlemen will at once have plans submitted by competent architects for the hotel. It is proposed to build a three-story building to occupy the whole of the property of the present hotel. The building will be lighted throughout with electric lights and will be sup plied with a system of waterworks, baths, etc. It will he modern in every detail and furnished in the lat est and best style. The idea is to make it one of the most attractive hotels in the South. Work is to be commenced just as soon as practical and the plant is to cost not less than *25,000. A Correction. Last week in the hurry of writing up the baseball game we inadver tently stated that some of the Gaff ney players were hired. Mr. Ihil’re, the manager of the team, informs us that not a dollar was paid out for players, and, furthermore, not a single player would aerept a cent for his services, and that it was didicult to even get some of them to allow the club to pay their expenses here. Messrs. Smith and N'eal say they will not, under any circumstances, play hull for money and we have reason to belivu that none of the rest will. We make this correction in justice to the gentlemen who assisted Gaffney. A Business Change. The firm of Gaffney A Cole has been dissolved by mutual consent. Mr. Gaffney huying Mr. Cole s inter est in the business. .Mr. Gaffney will continue to conduct the business at j GulTne,) all t,i< the same place, lie will run it on a j l 1 - 1 ^ merit.. larger scale and add a wholesale de- | partment. Mr. Stacy fell over the horse’s head and as the animal went to get up he struck Mr. Stacy in the face with his fore foot, indicting a painful, though not serious wound. Mr. Stacy says he never fell so far in all his life as he did tiiat night. We heard rumors of a young girl cutting her footwith an axe one day last week but could get no authentic information. In Destitute Dircumstanccs. There is a family living on the property of K. S. Lipscomb by the name of Bellow who are in destitute circumstances. They are composed of Judson Bellow, his wife and four children, a boy and three girls, the youngest of whom is hut two or three months of age. The father and mother and hoy are confined to their bed. There is no one to help them. They were compelled to do without food from Saturday morning to Mon day evening because there was no one to prepare it. Will the good peo ple of Gaffney allow these people to suffer? Certainly not. It would he a relieetion on our Christianity.
