JN DON.
Ati.ANTA, February 2S.—Quite a sen
sational injunction was granted last
night in Atlanta by Judge Lumpkin, of
the superior court of Fulton county,
which will give striking color to the
situation among tlie southern linos of
railway in the recent boycott against
the 8eabo.ird Airline.
The injunction is taken by King .t
Spalding, special attorneys for the Sea
board in tiiis case, and thesuit isagainst
the Nashville, Chattanooga and St.
Louis railway.
Jt is claimed in the bill t-hat the
Nashville. Chatlanooga and St. Louis
entered into a contract with the Sea
board several years ago to allow it till
tin- advantages of trallie arrangements
that it allowed every other road con
necting with it. This agreement was
made when the Seaboard made a deal
with the Nashville, Chattanooga and
St. Louis for tlie use of its terminals in
Atlanta, using the tracks of the West
ern and Atlantic, which is owned by
the staU> of Georgia and leased to the
Nashville, Chattanooga tmd St. Louis
The bill further recites that when
the Nashville, Chattanooga and St.
Louis decided to abide the ruling of the
I Southern railway and Steamship Asso
ciation and boycott the Scab ’an!, this
contract was violated It is L't.dmed
that tin* Nashville, ( huttaiux>g.u, and
' St. Louis will have to stand to its con
tract with the Seabord above its agree
ment to abide the dictation of an or-
ganization of railroads.
It is further recited that the lease of
the Western and Atlantic to Nashville,
Chattanooga and St. Louis stipulates
that tin; lessee shall never discriminate
under any circumstances against any
railroad iu favor of another, and it is
claimed that the Governor of Georgia,
if the boycott is pursued by the lessee
can cause the latter to forfeit its lease
at any moment.
This will give the boycott of the Sea
board a new turn.

Boston, February 27.—At the state
house yesterday the legislative commit
tee on mercantile a Hairs continued its
investigation into the cause of removal
to other states of textile corporations.
Tiie committee heard u different story
of the condition of manufacturers and
employes in Massachusetts from that
given at the previous sessions of the in
quiry. The competition of the south
was stamped as a bugbear by ex Sena
tor Robert Howard, of Fall River, who
appeared as the representative of the
Fall River Cotton Mule Spinners asso
ciation. Mr. Howard said in brief:
I liuvo noticed Utiriii'' the past few months
that IN' coi'iparativciy few iii:itiufa<'tvtt'ers who

south Iv.vo spurcU no puius to obtain the wid
est putilicity for their views on. the so-called
“southern movement.” The buybeur of south
ern competition has been running in the ears i
of the people throughout the leiutth and
breadth of the New Kngiand states and Masstt-
chusett.; particularly. It seems to me that
those who are doing the most talking possesses
more of a theoretical than a practical knowl
edge of cotton uuinitfacturing. The majority
of the manufacturers of Massachusetts depend
mote for success upon skilled operatives and
climatic conditions in the line of goods they |
are engaged in than proximity to the cotton

Something has also been said about coal.
