DuPre-Lipscomb, Holmes-Broom, and a Colored Jcffcries-Hames, Porter-Huskey, Couple are Among the Number. Tlie marriage Wednesday evening at tiie Lipscomb Hotel of Mr. W. Beverly Dul're to Miss Selina Lip scomb, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Smith Lipscomb, was a pretty, but quiet social event, only a few intimate friends and relativies of the contracting parties being present. The beautiful and impressive cere mony of the Methodist Episcopal church was performed by the Lev. (i. M. Boyd in his characteristic man ner. The wedding took place in the parlor of the hotel. Aft'*r the cere mony refreshments were served in the reading room, which was prettily decorated with pink, evergreens, flow ers. etc. The bride was arrayed in a pretty cream silk with bead trimmings and diamond ornaments, while the groom wore a becoming suit of fashionably cut black. The presents were numerous and consisted of gold and silverware which came from the immediate members of the families of the contracting parties, which is in strict accordance with the latest matrimonialetiquitte. The brida has for. several years been one of the reigning hells of this section and has a host of admiring friends who will wish her a happy and prosperous voyage <>n the sea of matrimony with no swelling, turbe- lous waves of trouble to mar her future career. The groom is one of (iaffney's best young business men and he too. has a large number of friends who will extend to him a greeting of good cheer. Among those who attended the marriage were Mrs. \V. A. Dul're, the groom’s mother, I'rof. 1). A. Dul’re, and wife, Mr. and Mrs. \Y. E. Bur nette, and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Dul’re, all of Spartanburg. Wyatt Lipscomb, of 1’acolet, Julian Lip scomb, of Campohella, W. <). Lip scomb and wife, I’rof. W. F. McArthur and wife. Miss Fannie McArthur and Dr. .1. Buddy Miller, of this city. Holmes and Miss Maggie Broom were united in marriage by the Rev. Mr. White, of 1’acolet. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes are two of the industri ous young people who make up the live and busy North End. II E. Jefferies and Miss N’innie I lames were united in marriage yes terday at 10 a. in. by the Rev. ('. F. Hickson, of Yorkville, at the home of the bride’s parents. The groom i.> a prosperous planter of the Star Farm neighborhood, while the bride is one of <lowdeysvillc’s most charming young ladies. Bierce Boole and Miss Eunice Hughes were united in marriage Wednesday at the home of t he bride s mother, Mrs. Jane Hughes, at (Jow- deysville, by the Rev. Floyd Clarkson. Mr. Boole is from Sunny Side. W. <>. Lipscomb Notary Bublic, married a colored couple from Henri etta last Sunday. The groom was Chas. Wood. The name of the bride could not he learned. Hi was about starting for a mid-day ; drive and we hope the warm bright I sunshine and balmy air have made him feel that he is himself again. Ilc ventured down town Wednesday. Messrs. Jones A White, of Tennes see, who have been here a couple of j weeks with a drove of hogs leave to day for their home.
