As to minerals, there is no place in
South Carolina to compare to Lime
stone. Press l.eighhirerg, State geo
logist when I was a hoy. was here at
Limestone and he said that there was
more mineral in twenty miles circutn-
ferenee of Limestone than in any
other part of the State. We have
lime, marhle. soapstone, lead, silver,
gold and iron ore, monazite and the
devil knows what all we don't have.
But it is here and hen* to stay until
capitalists come here to develop it.
\\'c have the second Ashville, yes the
first Ashville in toe south for build
ing purposes. N on capitalists, come

Limestone has raised as good women
as ever were raised upon the globe,
and yet they have some devil in thi'm

just below Limestone Springs in w hat
is known as the Xott mine.
There was three thousand dollars
in one deposit upon top of the hill.
There is gold there tha' has never
been found, and I believe it would
pay to work the mint*.

spirited freight agent, spent Sunday

Eddy Martin has been carrying his

Mr, J, If. Hurdine. formerly of this

S. .1. Hammett, an ex-member of
the “Sons of Best,'' has opened up a
confectionery store in the Kirby
stand. Now for cheap goobers, pin-
ders, ground-peas ami pea-nuts.

Mr. C. T. Clary, our Cliffy, is now
measuring tape, ribbons and etc., at
W. (>. Lipscomb’s. ' the hustler of
(iatfney City, and wishes his many
friends to call and give him a trial.
Ina. the little five year old daugh
ter of Capt. Clary went out the other
day, and of her own accord picked
lbs. of cotton. This is pretty good
for a live year old child. We doubt
very much if there can be found ant
other child of the same age that can
heat it without being forced to.

spects. Being removed some distance
from the seat of county government
it cannot he stigmatized with that

men of all vocations and professions
rank among the lit test and we coun
try people can find hut few objections
to them except that they want their
money when it is due.

ter should always he looked after by
the business men. Let them push

at Salem yesterday. Bev. T. II. Law
was present and conducted the ser

The colored people had il big

house near here hist Saturday. The
Mount Tabor band (colored) was pres

am told), prevailed throughout the
day. Tin- afternoon was partly taken

To-day the weather i- unfavorable
for farm work and everybody is sit

The cold indicates an early frost.
