QUIKT END TO A BEAUTIFUL
LIFE.
In hisStith year, on last Sabbath,
at his ijuiet home in Boston, Dr. Oli

Invat bed his last.
While he wits well known in so
many spheres of activity. it is per
haps principally as poet that he has
endeared himself to the heart of
Americans, and indeed to the En
glish speaking world. His poetry
palpitates with- life, sparkles with
wit and wisdom and withal is with
out any dross.
His Autocrat of the Breakfast Ta

position and rclleets the inate urtless-

Truly such lives are not lived in
vain. At nl! times cheerful; ready
with a helping hand to his brother
who hath need. In- passed through
life not as it meteor that da/./.les for
a moment only to disappear and
leave ti darkness that can he felt ; but
nit her as a sun that rises to the per
fect day then sinks gradually and
• juicily to rest leaving behind a halo
of light til once a promise of a bright
er beyond and a relleetion to those
who are still longing and waiting and
t hsinking t b»d for t he light of such a
life. ______
