Some of the Doings and Saying of
Local Baseball Enthusiasts.
Friday afternoon there was a
pretty amatettrjgame at Limestone
between the Ross and DuPre nines.
The DuPre’s were victorious by si
score of |M to .*>. Batteries: DuPre's,
Humphries and Lipseomh; Ross'.
Brown, Phillips. MeCraw. and Rieh-
ardson. It was a bountiful game up
to the fifth inning, the score stand
ing t tu I. hut in that inning the
DuPre's got a move on them and
made four runs and the other folks
wen* never able to overtake the lead.
At Midway Saturday afternoon
Fuirviow, Kd Clary captain, and
Midway. Amos Clary captain, crossed
hats at the grounds at Mr. Waters’.
Fair'iew had the best of it from the
start and at the end of the fourth
inning the game was culled with the
score standing It* to d in favor of
Fairviow. Bu* that game cannot
he counted a victory because the
reijuisite number of innings wen*
not played.
(>n the someday Corinth. W. L.
Phillips, captain, went to Midway to
meet and do buttle with Love Springs.
.1. M. Reynolds, captain, hut for
some cause not known to the writer.
Love Springs failed to toe the mark.
Therefore tin* umpire gave the game
to (’orinth by a score of 9 to (*.
However, there was a game, or at
least three innings of a game, be
tween Fairview and Love Springs in
which neither side mode a score and
in which Fairview only got as far a*
second while Love Springs never got
to first.
Captain Phillip* says he don't

A large crowd of admirers of the
national game went down to Lime
stone Tuesday to see the second
game of the season between the
Ross’ and DuPre's. and they were
well repaid for their trouble. The
hoy* hull led bravely for nine innings,
and at no time was the game one
