Mr. Dudley Jones brought to this

rated as one of the best gardeners in

for sunn mouths. One of his arms
has been slightly paralyzed, hut
seems to lie party restored. He has

The attraction this week among
the woiild-he shorts and cranks has
been the series of gaiues between
, Spartanhitrg and Ashville teams.
Ashvillc won the tirst game, but the
Spartans "got there" the other two.
The (iaffney Tar Heels were for Asli-
ville as a rule. However, there is
one would-he sport in town who will
not be so anxious to collect baseball

R. N. Littlejohn, of Charlotte, ac
companied hy his sons, David and
Richard, are here on a visit to rela
tive* and friends. At present they
are stopping at R. A. Jones'. After
a few days in (lie city they will go to

Miss Bessie Meaehein returned to
the city from the Teacher’s Conven
tion at Spartanburg last Saturday
and is at the Limestone Inn.

Edwin Walters made a survey for
water work* this week. He is not
yet prepared to estimate the eos>,

for the basis of an estimate. A few
miles west of town, he found a sup
ply of pure water that will afford a
pressure of about 2(*( feet. If a sys
tem is prnetienhle whereby no pump
ing is required, it will he much
cheaper to operate. This is what
the survey will determine. It is
hoped a complete rcjairt will he ready
