business, I made several experiments
with the view of testing tho correctness of

In the year 1818, I selected G rows of
corn pf equal length, and planted and
cultivated in every respect alike, as near
as possible. * From three of tho row#, I had
' the blades all stripped off at the usual fod
' ' tier palling season, and upon the remaining

thoroughly this ran iter, I placed both parcels
away carefully In barrels, expecting to

mice got in among it, nud so damaged it
that nothing satisfactory could he douewith
