liand generosity lie made a good many

ol high culture, having had the advaut
ages of classical training. He fought a
duel with Miller \\ illiams, of Cumdeu,
in 1878, over the North Carolina Hue, in

was hurt. In the spring of 187y he
fought a duel with Cantey, of Camden,
at Dubose's Bridge, in Darlington couiir
ty; this likewise was attended with no

morning Miss Jellis Stotm, a pretty

20, boarded the Shenandoah Valley
