riding behind her dusky lover on the
same horse. The bfottrer hailed them

ter. They were better mounted, and

tanced the pursuers. One of tbe gen
tle couples was arrested on the out
skirts of Rockingham, and there is
now strong talk of lynching the man.
Nine cases of this kind have occurred
in six months, and all in the same sec
tion of the country, white women in
