A Hard Lot—Editors and printers
haves bard lot. Everybody seems to
think that they are publtonroperty.
and uee them accordingly. They seem
to think we jive oa glory, wind, etc.
Now, we have seen men, and we know
them, too, who will read a paper for
two years, and when politely dunned
for the subscription will fly up and in
dignantly demand that thifr paper be
stopped, and never pay for It. Thu
names of such characters should be
handed down to posterity and their ca
reer should be printed and pasted In
the back of every Sunday school book
In tha land as a warning to future gen-
erattons, and their pbotogranh* should
adorn front positions In the ’’rogn#*’
galtary.” We think It quite probable
that the Press Association, at their
next meeting, will take approprlatoac-
tlon In regard to newspaper deadbeat*,
and for the protection of tbe craft au-
thorixe tbe quarterly publication of ft
black list.
If oor correspondents have any sym
pathy for tbe soul of a printer, and
would remembef that a newspaper
msa’s troubles are not always ’‘little
ooea,” they would surely be kind
enough to write their letters in a large,
f tittaand, wkb Ink, because It la neither
profitable or pleasant for ua to deci
pher manuscript that ba* been written
with ft lead postal oa soft paper, and
with an evident view of crowding about
three d< sen words to th« square loch.
