as to ita powers and duties, which had been
tuUy explained at the preceding term of the
Court. They ware eautianed against the im-<
provident fluding of bills. A great many
atuall easm were sent up to this Court by
Trial Juslicoo who were anxious te do their
duty, but who wero frequently uncertain as
to their ponera. The Solicitor'! Circuit, cov
ering five counties, is to extensive that but
little time is given to him and it rests with
the Grand Jury to relieve the county from
useless and expensive litigation. With re
gard to homicides, it was the duty of the
Grand Jury to find true bills in all cases
where the facts of the killing were elearly
proven, ho matter what excusing pauses ex
isted. Defendants should b« vindicated by
the verdict of a jury after ji fair trial and a
full exauiinhfioa into all the facts. Wit
nesses wSte very prompt in attendance.
Seven biUs were gif f n out by Solicitor Gantt.
Judge Mackey proceeded to call the cases

Stale against U. L Wide, for obtaining good#

Iton was made of a similar case against Aledt
Glover. There was some difficulty in organ
ising a jury for the Trial of John Jackrimf fof
hog stealing, on account of flit deafness of
three members, who were excused lor tb'^
term. Jackson Wds found guilty after a pa
tient bearing and remanded for sentence.
Uabe Miller, colored, convicted of assault and
battery at the February Term, but who fai'ed
to coma up and receive the sentence of the
Court, appeared and waa informed that he
must either spend three months in ihe conn
ty jail or pay ten dollars and costs of prose
cution.
Ike following true bills were brought in
by Ihe Grand Jury : Stats vs. John Grant,
