A Young W idow.
A certain census enumerator of this
county, called upon a woman a month
or so Ago, who resides not far from thef
Courthouse, and proposed the usual
question as by law directed. The wo-
mad said she was a widow, bet .cge
was twenty five and her husband died
twoyearaago. The faithful recorder,
on receiving the name of the woman’s
deceased husband ami his occupation
when alive surmised that he must
have been a relative, if not the same
Mr. who was a member of Hagood’s
Regiment. A conversation ensued,
when finally the enumerator Innocent
ly asked If her husband was the
same Mr. who died during
the war, saying that he himself
was a member of the same regi
ment, god that be was well acquainted
with the man. The widow, In a modi-
fled tone, repttwl: ‘Y)h, yee. but that
was a long time ago.’’ The amusing
part of the affair Is that the mac has
, been dead about seventeen years, and
