It has already boon announced tint Mrs. Aunie Wetincro, an American la dy who was noted for her beauty, com mitted suicide in Paris on the 21st instant, sad that the rash act was perpetrate 1 on account of bar being disappointed in not marrying liord Awgiesar. The follow ing particulars of the nintory of Mr. Wetmore.and her relations with Angoscy rom Pi ’oris as derived from a cablegram from dated the 24th inat., are given : Tlie Wetmore-Anglesey! affair contin ues to engross public attention, and, although nt* the general theme of con versation here, it is curious to say thut wit h a single exception, that of the Vol- tniro this morning, all mention of it has thus far been kept out of the newspa pers, Haring Men introduced to L*dy Albert Clinton lately at the house of a mutual friend, I hate profited by my slight acquaintance to obtain some in- formatiou regarding the melancholy af fair. Her Ladysfaip received me court eously and expree'ed her wi'lingness to tell me all she knew of the dreum- ounces. She herself seemed overcome with grief, and her eyes filled with terrf ■when she began to speak about her de ceased friend. After a few general re marks about the ratnoro which were in circulation I told her what I had stated in my telegram of Thursday evening und which she pronounced to be in the main correct. r.ouD AROLNgT’f Letters. “May I a»k,” I said, “if you sre in E osscssion of Ixml Anglesey's letters to Ii ~ Irs. Wctmore? No, she replied, they sre i» the hands of her Iswyer, Mr. Gardiner, of the tramps Ktysece. There are sH couch ed in terms which convey the idea that his Lordship had the rnoet p^asiona'e affection for Mrr Wetmore, and in no leas than seven of them he declared that ho would masry her the moment she got (be divorce from her hatband. I lure oven in my possesa.jn a ring which he fgare Imr in the first dsv* of last rn'mtn.” {HerLadytb ip here wen* and brought in a small basket containing among other effects of the deceased lady, s plain gold ring, bearing the following inscription on the inside : To Annie, from Auglaaey, June l, 1880. Lvdy Albert Clinton then oontinued: Mrs. Wotinora omc to Europe about three years ago with bar son, a lad about thirteen years of age. I think she met Lord Ang’rmy for the flrrt time ia Spain. Whoa she left America she had no idea »f permanently separatiag beraelf from her husband, of whom she always spoke with remorse, but Lord Angieary turned her bead by promiaing to marry her if she go’, a divorce. Tnis took time, ao much time, that he get tired of his bar- gam and deserte<krher a« soon aa the had broken loose from the only real tie which heuud her to Hie and affection for her child. She was handsome, nfT.-cti mste and confiding. Poor dear, she waa ao faithful to Anglesey and Itelieved in him so entirely. You know he lived oa the Avenue Kleber, occu pying separate apartments in the same house. Three days before her death she said, speakin/ of her husband Henry was always kind to me, but wc had nothing in common. We were no 1 made to live happily together. lie wa* much too religious for me, and was not satisfied unless I went to uhurch all day Sunday, but be was a geod, kind man. I sever ought to iiave left him. My fate should be a warning to American women who come abroad without their legitimate protector*. But she rarely gave way to these remorseful feelings, lor she loved Anglesey to dL-tractiou. HKsr&TED. Her last meeting with him was on ffn'iday, June 20. He told her he had to go to London on business. 8he said to him, with a sort of instinctive feeling. You will be tree to me, Henry, and come back as quickly as yon can? He replied that he loved her as much as ever, and parted with her with ov,*ry demonstration of affection, although he Knew that ho haul written her a letter, dated the 19th, the day before, in which he bade her farewell forever, and gave her to understand that all was at an end between them. This latter was handed to her the next day by Mr. Stone. Lord Anglesey’s secretary, and it drove her almost to madams. It was then that I brought her to my house ; for she had ne Ir.nds here, land in the letter to which I have just referred Lord Anglesey g.ve hef to understand that she must leave her apartments and write no more than enc letter to him. To this she wrote a reply of a most touching character, in which she appealed to the Marquis’ manhood. Remember, she said, all 1 have lost for you. Can you expect that God will prosper you or yours when you are capable of such a dreadful wrong? In another passage she says, Gan it be possible tint you have no conscience or freling or that you, a nobleman, are willing to turn me out penniless into the werid after ill your promises, to ray nothing of your protended affection up to Mm week before your marriage ? AFTIAURO TO Tn* OUKTE. I was next shown a number of letters from Lord Aaglesey, authenticated try his family ooat of arms. They wem alt ronehod in the most endearing terms, commencing with My lovely Annia, My dearest, and closing with «xlravAgaat as surances of nodying leva, nateem and fidelity. Sevan *f those letters, Lady Albert Clinton said; aod Mrs. WetaDore a kwyer aasured me, contain explicit and uooqaKwxul promises of marriage, cad •Were period of ao«fiy Utree year*. When it was announced that the Mar* quu had married Mr*. W ode house, Mrs. Wetmore’s lawyer, who knew all the circumstance*, urgqd that a suit fir breach of promise should be instituted. A correspondence to that effect was com • meuoed with the Marquis' lawyer*, who replied that their client repudiated the olicgali iq at to the promise, and that it would be useless to try and make a Case, os there was uo law pun ishing bre ich of promise in Fnoce, and that an offence com milted there could I not be tried in England. Unhappily this proved to be the case. # ROT WISELY BI T TOO WELL. "^The deceased took no interest In all this, the idea of death engrossing her miiid from the moment she heard of K I<ord Anglesey's marriage. Every effort ! made to calm her was vain and she pacid up nod down her room the image of despair. Thu lasted until Wednesday morning, when on entering her apart ment, liady Albert CHnton found her in the last agony, with her eyes glaring, hands clinched and face so distorted that she was hord'y recognizable. Tne servants wore immediately sent for medi cal aid, bnt it was ten o’clock before a doctor could be found. Every effort \\us then made to save the poor sufferer, but in vain ; *he writhed in dreadftil torture until about three, when she breathed her last. When the Marquis heard of the melancholy event be sent word through his lawyers that he would oon - tribute £.*>0 toward the enpenees of the funeral. The burial lot alone it 8t Get- miinoost £40. The deceased was a lady of refined and pleasing manners. She wn* oi medium height, w th dark eyes and hair. Her features kad some thing of the Jewish cast. She was graceful and attractive, with especially pretty hands and feet, snd her figure was faultless. She was kind and amiable to an extreme, and of a sweat and forbear ing dispoaition, her only fault being, as Lady Albert ( linton aaid that she loved uot wisely but too well. Tiff END. The funeral services took p'aec this morning at the Protestant Kpiaoopul Church, la the Rue Bayard. Dr. Mor gan officiated. The attendance was very small, there being only about a do*cu persons, chiefly Indies, present. Among them were Lady Albert Clinton and Messrs. Edwards, May, Henry Bacon and Hunter of New York.
