to the voters of Barnwell county aa a
euitytde person to fill the offl.-e of
Sheriff, and It is the object of litis com
munication to present tb* claims of
Mr. Creech upon the people of Barn
well county for their suffrages In that
election. The writer, himself a sol
dier, addresses himself mainly to sol
diers of tba late war and feels assured
they will understand and appreciate
the justice of Mr. Creech’s claims. At
the same time he appeals to a fair ana
Impartial public to judge of the merits
of his case, and if there is no one in
tho fit-id who has greater claims upon
the people of Barnwell to remember
Frank Creech when they elect their
delegatee or cast their primaries for
county officers. Mr. Creech is at least
the equal in point of education and
ability to fill the office of any man yet
announced. As a man of character
he Is the peer of any man lu the field

sary qualification of firmness and res
olution tie record hears him our. He
hns faithfully discharged the duties of

with that command through all the
memorable campaigns in which bis
regiment participated in Y ir K* u,a and
Tennessee. He served as a private
during the entire war; received a gun
shot wound through the leg at Willes
Valley, Tennessee, and at Fort Harri
son, where Hays and Bellinger were
killed and a host of other gallant and
true men, among them J. W. Riee and
E. W. Behling and others received
desperate wounds, F. H. Creech fell,
as was supposed, mortally wounded
from a gun shot wound, shattering bis
right arm and pas-ing through bis
right lung, thereby entirely disabling
him In the use of bis arm so much so
that be Is now unable to support him
self by manual labor, much less the

hands. In the campaign of Id, when
our beloved Hampton was inaugarat-

a company of sixty men and tendered
