Mr. N W. Peacock, living about
four tulles from here had the miefor
tune to have his dwtdllng and smoke
house totally destroyed by Are* last
week. Mr. P managed to save some
eat and most of hi.* furniture. A-

neighbors, they collected together and
went to work to build another house,
which is already so far completed, ns
to admit of Mr. Peacock and his family
occupying It. This action on the part
of his neighbors seems to bo a practi
cal application of the scriptural in
junction “thou shall lore thy neigh
bor as thy self.”

his den, by passing an ordinance pro
