A Itoeiner Child.
The steamer Cdlorndo, which arrived
in this city on Tuesday last’, hod on
board a passenger Who promises to cre
ate a profound sensation here, not only
among the medical fraternity, but
among the public at large. It ia a*boy six
yean of age, and the formation of his
head and feet present the most remark
able freak of nature, undoubtedly, that
tfet world bar ever seen. His head is
shaped exaeffly like that of a rooster With
bill, comb, Wattles and feathers complete.
It is os large as the head of an ordinary
child of six years, and the feathers ex
tend to the shoulders. The boy wears
3 jacket closely buttoned at the neck,
«hW presents the appearance of a huge
rooster clothed mtho garb of humanity.
There is absolutely nothing about the
heed to indicate that it is that of a hu
man being, and it is as perfect a pro
duction on e large scale of that qf a
member of the barnyard tribe as it ia
possible to imagine. The feet and low
er limbs, from the knees down, are also
those of a rooster, although they nte
several sizes larger than even those of
the largest Shanghai Ibwl. The hands
are those of a human being perfectly
formed, but abundantly large. Except
the head, feet and lower limbs the child
has a human development. During the
trip up the river it waa accompanied by
it* fatfter 4 and mother, and was kept in
theit atate-moa,except when it was oc
casionally taken on deck closely vailed for
n breath of fresh air.—St. I/mls Times.

Josh Billings says : If anybody has
bard work to please most people, it is an
editor. If he omits anything, he is lazy.
If he speaks of things as they are, peo
ple get angfy. If he glosses things over
or smooths down the rough points, bo
is bribed. If he calls things by their
proper nontes, he is declared unfit for
his position. If he does not turnish his
readers with joksi, he is a mullet. If he
does, be is a rii(tie-head, lacking sta
bility. If he indulges in pemortalities, he
is a blackguard. If iVe dow not; his
paper is dull and insipid.
The King of Siam has a body guard of
female warriors. It ia composed of four
hundred girls, chosen from among the
strongest and most handsome of all the
ladies in ths land. At the age of thir

in it until they are *wenty-firc, when
they pass into the reserve. Their weap
