On Sunday evening last Mr. Dave
MoWab and Miss Lucy Lancaster,
daoghter of Sheriff Lancaster, were
out riding, when the mule which they
were'driving became frightened at a
calf and turned round with the buggy,
throwing Miss Lancaster out. Mr. Me-
liab attempted to stop the mule, but
the buggy striking something threw
ihlm out also. The Uses became en-
tangled in his feet and he was dragged
■In this way about 75 yards. Ho wao
painfully, but not seriously hurt, his
t blp being severely bruieed. Miss
ncaater, with the exception of sev
eral cuts in the face, was uninjured.

A farmer purchased some rloe the
other day, and when hs started home
he placed a bottle of whiskey, which
he had also purchased, on the bag of
rloe to prevent the bottle from break
log. When he arrived home he found
the bottle broken and the rice sat u

age. Early to life be united with ths
Treadway Baptist Church, and put on
Christ by baptism. Not being perma
nently settled at this time, at hto owa
request was granted a letter of dismis
sion to unite with the Colombia Bap
tist Oh arch, located on the Lower
Three Runs, of which church hs was
s member, when burned by Sherman's
army. Having no house at this place
in which to worship God, hs with a
few brethren from sister churches
orgaolzsd the Seven Pines' Baptist
Church, aad possessing all of ths
scriptural qualifications was chosen
and set a part for the office of a dea-
ooe. Differing from hto bretires In
seme matters of tests, yet aver main
taining the kindest Cbiirilan feelings
for them, he withdrew and unitad with
the Pleasant Mountain Baptist Church
of which hs wan a membsr at ths time
of hto death. The snbjeet nf this

death suffered greatly from a stroke
of paralysis, and for eleven vsars lived
