As there arc two or three etyles of eonden^

ly tne improveincnts contained in the new.
Condensers heretofore have been arranged
to bat from the lapping principle, that my
th ey form the but on the cylinder or reel
through which the draft of the gin-brush
must pass. This is a perfect w iy to make a
good, strong bat, but it has one serious objec
tion In the sate ot cotton it laps so perfectly
on the reel and folds up so ntocly after it
passes the machine that qtiaatUies of it go In
the press folded i p, widen 'e:ui«es die fibre to
press bent or crooked in the bale, or to have
the appearance of napped cotton, 1 maktx
this tialetncnt upon the sTithotr^f ofcoltOn
buyers who have informed tne of the fact.
This, then, is one point of improvement in
my condenser. By reversing tbe motion of
tbe reel and Ulowin j the cotton down on an
endless apron, lapping the cotton, flake at a
time, o* the reel is presented ; at the samo
time die meshes of the reel are kept clear of
c (ton and a free passage of air and dust ac
quired. After tbe cotton ts dropped down
ou the apron it is whipped round to four
rollers in front, where it forms a bat. The
passage of tbe lint between thgsc r Hers to
form abat obviates the above troubles, and de
livers the cotton with a beautiful fluffy np-
pearoce, perfectly clear ofany napps ot dust
at all. The attachment of four rollers ts de
signed to make them doubly secure against
fire. The additional improvement in (ho
dies! is of great value. By it the dgst is
"Onveycd out of the gin room, at the same
timo it prevents fire from gening into the
cottoa. My aim has been to make a self-ex
tinguishing Condenser, and 1 *am satisfied
that my aim is tuHy accomplished by the
addition of four rollers to quench the blaze.
Tea, I have put an end to all gin house bum
ing, except the burns of the vile incendiary.
