Condensers heretofore here been arranged to bat from the lapping principle, that is, form the hat the cytiadar -or real through which ■the draft of the gin-brush must pass. This is S perfect way to mske s good, strong bat, but it has one serious objec tion In the sale oi cotton it laps so perfectly on the reel and folds up so tuoely aftOe ie passes the machine that quanti|ies ofit go in the press folded tp, which causes the fibre to press bent or crocked in the bale, or to have the appearance of napp«4 cotton. I make this statement upon the authority cf cotton buyers who have informed me of the fact. This, then, Is one point of improvement in my condenser. By reversing the motion of the reel and blowing the cotton down on an endless apron, lapping the cotton, flakoata time, on the reel is presented ; at the same time the meshes of the feel are kept clear of cotton and a t ree passage ofaitvand dust ac quired. After the cotton tSdropped down on the apron it is whipped round to four rollers in iron), where it forms a bat. The passage of I be lint between these rdlers to form a bat obviates the above troubles, and de livers the cotton with e beautiful fluffy mp- pearacb, perfectly clear of any napps or duet at all. The attachment of four rollers Is de signed to make them doubty secure aeainst. fire, 'the additional improvement in the chest is of great value. By it the dust is onveyed out of the gin room, at the same lime it prevents fire from getting into the cottei. My atm has been to make a seif-ex- linguishing condenser, and i am satisfied that my aim is fully accomplished by the addition of four rollers to quench the blase. Yes, I have put an end to all gin house bum mg, except the burns ofibe vile incendiary.
