Lancaster bad gone on to Atiiinta.for
the purpose of obtaining the custody
of John Boetock. Owing, boweven to
certain defects in the tequisitionipn-
penj Governor Colquitt refusedt to
release B >etock Capt. Lancaster re
turned last Saturday and, after having
the defects in tlie papets remedied,
started back for his ptisotter on Sun-
day Tilght last. He is expected hcurly,
but up to the time ol our going to
press has not arrived.

gentlemen may be willing to givetlieir
legal services without a charge lu dol

We must recollect that the members

tee, and it will be asked to elect coun
sel to take charge of the whole mati
ter. These communb atlons, if under
double envelopes and endorsed, will

Committee.
The treasurer will be pr< sent nt the
meeting and make an exhibit of the
liabilities of each club under tbs first
and second calls.
I appeal once more to the Demo
crats of the county, .and hope they
will respond with a part of the gene-
roeky and magnanimity that they ex

Governor Hampton will not go to
Florida as was anticipated, but is ex-
poet<|l to leave Columbia in a few
days for the low country, whither ho

tion. The recent decision of the Su
preme Court In the matter of the
bonds maturing on the 1st November*
1879, having relieved him of any nee-
ceesity of resuming the duties of the
Executive Office until they are dispos
ed of. It is not probable that he will
again assume the gubernatorial chair.
His resignation os Governor may,
therefore, be expected at any time.
