ThU i« a perfect wsy to make a good, strong bat, but H has oae serious objec tion In the sale of cotton it Upe so perfectly on the reel and (bide-tip so moely after it passes the taaehjne that quantities of it go in tha ptoss folded up, which causes the fibre to press beat or crooked ia the bale, or to have the appearance of napped Bolt or. I make this statement upon the authority of cotton buyers who hate informed me of the fact. This, then, is one point of improvement in my condenser. By reversing the motion of Bis reel and blowing the ootton down on an endless apron, lapping the cotton, flake at a 1 is pr time, on the reel is presi Urns the meshes of the reel are kept clear of Cotton and a free- passage of Mr and dost ac quired. After the cotton is dropped dowd on the apkon if is whipped round to four rollers in front, where it forms a bat. The passage of the lint between these rollers tq fofm a bat obviates the above troubles, and de livers the ootton with a beautiful fluffy ap- pearace, perfectly blear ofanynapps or dust ill at all. The attachment of (bur rollers Is de signed to make them doubly secure against Ore, The additional improvement in the eheet ia of great value- By it the dust Is conveyed out of the gin room, at the same time it prevents Are from getting into the eistton. My aim has been to make a sclf-ex- tibguishing condenser, and I am aotisfled that my aim is fully accomplished by the addition ef four rollers to quench the blase.
