concluded to use none at all. Such a
policy is ruinous in the premises to the.

become so denuded that a crop of no des
cription can be gathered from it. Every
suooesstul planter knows that the differ
ence between good and indifferent seed,
and the amount paid in properly prepar

This disease seems promising to be
come rile in this county, and I would
. I eg leave to furnish a few suggestions to
the practitioners who may be cal!cd upon
to meet it.
It is a poison of a vegetable mush
room nature. It cm occur, apart from
disease of the throat, in any part of the
, body in black or puiplish boils or blis
ters, succeeded by a membranous exu
dative base. It is quite contagious.
Like all vegetable poisons, it can be
destroyed by sulphurous or.by carbolic
acids.
When membranes in the throat ecrer

oNhe affected parts with a solution made
of one ounce of glycerine, 2 drachms of
Mongers Solution of Iron and fivedrops
of carbolic acid. After this, gargle
. four or five times a day (orif tco young

solution of sulphite of soda two ounces,

great prostration, the strength must be
sustained by essence of beef and milk
punch every quarter or half an hour

The Blackvilie High School has been
steadily progressing. It had been suc
cessfully managed for four months to 1st
January and then opened rttli near
forty scholars. It now has a board of
trustees of our best citizens, who pro
pose to make it a school of high charac
ter. The principal, Colonel James H.
Hsllonqtiist, has had about ten years
espeiience as an instructor, being a
graduate of West Point, and before at
the Citadel Academy, of this State, he
is capable of-teaching «U blanches. The
fine brick building that was in use s
short time back for a court house has
been sc cored for fne school, and is now
soused. Tbe wantTof a first class school
has long been felt in the middle section
of the State, and success is now certain.

petent assistants will be employed, so
that no scholar may be neglected. Bluet-
ville is equal to Aiken in health; has
good society apd several churches.
Board can be had lor almost any num
ber of scholars, gfrls or boys, in private

It is contemplated, sooner or later,
