ICClat** Arrest.
From a Sellable eye-witness of the
whole affair we have the following ac-
'ooantof ex-Judge Wlggln’s arrest at
Blaekvllle on the 20th Inst. With a
longing for aalt air and the sea b4a!<Ai
Mr. Wlggln, on Wednesday of last
wtek, adjourned his Court at Black-
▼We and took the train for Beaufort.
'Just as h« was seating himself com
fortably for a ride behind the iron
^orse Constable Attaway entered the
^ur and laid the band of the law on
.the broad shoulder of the ex-Judge.
In a dramatic manner Mr. Wlggln
rose and directed'tTnlted States Mar
shal Bourke to take Mr. Attaway un
der the guardianship of the best gov
ernment the world ever saw, but the
latter, not recognizing the ^powcr of
the prisoner as superior to the au
thority of his keeper, succeeded, by
the aid of a little persuasion and a
few bystanders, In bringing Mr. Wig-
gin to a correct appreciation of his po
sition and out of the cars. As he
’placedhis feet firmly on the sand of
Railroad avenue Mr. Wiggin announ
ced that he would re-opefi 'his Court,
'and with the constable returned to his
*
former room in the hotel, tpok posi
tion on the bed and then offered to in
vestigate the constable, Mr. Wiggin
having refused to accompany Mr. At
taway to Barnwell. The latter a second
time called argument and the strong
arms of a few sympathetic Democrats
to his assistance, and through these
joint agencies succeeded In persuad-
Mr. Wiggin to join him in a ride
>iir town. Safely they passed all
L perils of the sandy road and reach-
lere just before nightfall and pro-
led to Interview Justice Allen, who
farteously informed Mr. Wlggln that
his presence was earnestly deeired at
the February term of the Court of
.General Sessions. Mr. Wlggln con
curred with Mr. Allen and gave his
bond with surety satisfactory to the
Jostles that he would be there. Sha
king the dusl of Barnwell off his feet
Mr. Wlggln, a sadder and a wiser man,
wended his wr-ary way to Blaekvllle,
musing, It may be, upon the changes
of reckless time and determining to
shape bis course for the sea’slhe,
where he is now listening to what the
wild waves are saying, fie is gone ;
there is a vacancy in his deserted
Court room, but few lament his depar
ture, for we w<ll see him again, when
the Court will deal gently with him.
The warrant on which Mt. Wiggin-a
high private citizen, and not a caval
ryman—Solicitor, Judire or Commis
sioner of the United States—was ar
rested was issued by Justice Allen, and
alleges hi« acceptance of a bribe while
Acting as Solicitor in 1875.
We know nothing, of Mie'mrrits of
the case against him, but do hope that
be will not make himself sublimely
■dieulous by attempting to piav the
role of a loyal martyr. If he desires
ebeap notoriety why he can get it, : and
perhat>« have his picturr put in Har-
'per’s Weekly.

Ilow e’aVjfvut I .on” ton tafcow.
The satisfaction left behind it at
every stand by this superb show is
lively in the extreme, and its coming
to Blackvillo on Friday, December Glh,
is hailed with delight by everybody.
Among the other good things an ex
change says:
Yesterday, the time announced, this
mammoth combination arrived in the,
city and pitched on the fiafc north of
the jail., Karly In the day the public
was delighted with the street parade,
which tn size and appointment has nev- (
er been equaled in this city. Every
thing down on the bills was seen. At
2 o’clock the peiformance began, but
long befote that hour the menagerie'
was crowded with those interested in
th“ 'ZooIi>g1ial collection, which Wa«
unusually flue. Under this pavilion
was seen Captain Crapo and wife, and
the boat in which they crossetl the At
lantic.
But the circus was the tiring. Old
circus goers pronounce the entire per
formance the best ever given. As in
the patade, se here, everything adver
tised'Was given, and from the begin
ning of the entertainment until the
storm broke the vast audience was
either “ laughingly pleased ” or as-
toundlogly astonished” by what was
done.
The clowns were funny, the athletes
wonderful ; in the cross-bar, flying
leaps or,tumbling, tlic only Improve
ment that could be puggest^d, was
more of it. It seeujs impossible that
Frank Gardner’s ftiata. can be sur
passed. Mufo. Dockrifl, th's. wonder
ful bqiicatrienne, and Miss I’-tuline
L*’e, ’juggiist,. were simply immense.
The elephant performance must be
seen to be appreciated. It is bard to
understand how these mammoths can
be go thoroughly trained as are
five of the Howe’s Loudon. Tt is im
possible to note everthing .that was
done, but suffice it that everything was
as promised.
A short time before the ologe of the
entertainment a roost violent rain
storm broke, which defied canvas and
umbrellas. The consequence w s tluu
everyone wuselightly damper than wae
pleasant. When the storm vv is most
furious, Francisco Brown, the wonder
ful bareback rider, was giving his
part' of the programme, and though
all had a strong desire to leave for
home, they remained to see ids uu-
equaled feats.
Ilowe’s London Circus will always
"be immensely patronized.
Ellextox, 8. C., Mav 21th 1875.
Dr. Harter:
liaar Sir—1 used your Iron Tonic to
a considerable extent in my practice
last fall, and was well please! with its
effects. It produces more satisfactory
results in my hands than any prepa
ration of bark and Iron I baye ever
used. 8. G. Uablky, M. D.

arch” of England, was stricken with
his last disease, his physicians admin

men’s skulls. In our age educated
