Bobcrt Aldrich’s aI >eoch at Hampton Court House. We an, from • principle, opposed to combinations in politics, be* lievieg that the vtoioe of the people— t^e Democratic people—should be the only lav and guide in the selection of public servants. If that be stifled the Democratic party drifts from its moor* ings into the viciousneee of Radicalism. Never having been, and resolved never to be r a party to ally political combina tion, except Itrfar as our dllegiaoee to Democracy may require, we earnestly hope that Mr. Aldrich has been mis** taken in attributing hii defeat to a co alition of his enemies. We feocive ‘from this speech our first intimation of the esiutenoe of such a combination, and {u justice to those of our candidates with whom we have conferred on the matter, declare that they were not par ries to it or cognisant of it. Ihe E*d ef Use Csu»p»lrw. The campaign of 1878 is ended. Red shirts will be luid away until the Summer of 1880. If any jealousies and per. soaal grievances have arisen among Democrats during the campaign they should be buried forever, and our people, united in their efforts to preserve imd perfect the peaoc and good order of the State, sboold devote themselves with ‘ fresh energy to the swifter development * of our vast resources. No teacher can do justice to himself or his scholars without the co-operation of his patrons, and that cooperation can be given in various ways, by seeing that lemons are thoroughly prepared; that attendance is regular, and especially by frequent friendly visits to the sohool room. Tfco Bans well Fair. ^ jF Oer Cowmty Fair la 16TW. T%e Fair of neat year can bo made a qplendid exhibition if our planters will only resolve that it shall be.
