Our enterprising merchant Walker is

our energetic young merchant Miller,
still holds to the WllcoX and Gibbs, of
which be disposes of a goodly quan'
ty. Trade among the merchants here
generally seema to be quite lively. The

rich young lady’s servant bad been over
nearly all the country hunting for a
Daisy, but returned without ono. While
the servant was telling her mistress that
her search had bcoi'j fruitless, the Spar
row darted in at a window and laid tho
Daisy Ujton the table. “0 what u l-Cauty
it is,” exclaimed the ludy, “here,” said (
she, “put it in fny hair.” The servant
did as she was bid, and the Daisy stayed
in the lady’s hair fofi two days, beingad^
roirod by every one; but at Inst it was
withered and the servant threw it away.
As the poof little thing lay crying on
the ground, the Sparrow saw it, and fly
ing down, stood over tho Daisy. “0
my,” said the Sparrow to tho Daisy, “if
you had been contented you would not
be in this sad plight, but you would be
bright and happy. The Daisy cried
aloud, and asked the Sparrow, as her
beat friend, to bury her, which the Spar
row did. And this is All that i$ known
of the dificonteoted Daisy and the kind
Sparrow.

sureties, who in case of acceptance of the
bid will be required to joih their prin
cipal in the execution ofa bond for the
due performance of the contract.
Tho Board has levied a tax of two
mills, to be collected during the present
fiscal, year, for the purpose above men
tioned.
