The bills rendered show that thoas-

for stoves to beat the State-house and
toommlttee rooms. Sergeant Williams
testiiles that the committee rooms
Were furnished with stoves every year,
wnd that when be called for them the
members told htm “it was none of his
business.” ? .
Mr. Palmer states that the stoves in
the state-bouse are worth 81,500 at
this time, and that be does not find
trafe-elghth of the stoves at the capltol
which he famished.
We will not attempt to give the
amount of soap, batr brashes and tow
els furnished, but will Simply state
that tbs accounts amounted to thous
ands of dollars. Verily, they should
have been cleansed.
State officials, members of the House
Hnd Senate, clerks and attaches were
Tarnished with most of the leading
daily papers of the State and a large
dumber of weekly country papers. In

from such stupendous frauds? The
1% testimony submitted shows that these
persons either were reckless of the in
terests of the people of the fttate, or
winked at, -connived at, or eoliuded
with the robbers to fleece the people—
a collusion as humiliating as the facts
are disgraceful and culpable.
