Think Not of Death
Think not of Death as a dark stranger from the sk es
Who stooped to dull her eyes with his gray veil.
But as a friends, who full of glad surprise,
Reached down his tender arms to hail
Her into a sweet world that knows no pi in,
W’here there is peace and quiet and rest,
Where bones and hurt hearts nexer ache again
And every earth-sick soul is at its best.
(And as that last song poured from the distant blue,
I think she must have said, “My dears, he’s calling me, I must go,
goodbye,
I’ll watch in every cloud and star for ycu,
I’m glad to go; I’m not afraid to die.”)
This is not her you bury here beneath this sod;
She is a laughing, happy soul gone up to meet her God.
