GREENE HOSTESS TO U. D. C. CHAPTER. Mrs. G. M. Greene was hostess to the members of the Johnson Hagood Chapter, U. D. G, at her home on Academy Street on Friday afternoon. The meeting wes called to order by Mrs. F. S. Brown, president of the chapter, and reports from the various officers and) committees were had. Other business came before the meet ing and was passed on in due order. It was decided by the members to send Miss Laura Clary, a member of the Chapter who is confined to a hospital in Charleston, a “sunshine box.’’ The box will contain a gift from each member of the chapter, one package to be opened each day. The hiatorical paper for the month waa given by Mrs. W. H. Manning, who treated her subject in masterful style. Griffith, a representa tive of the U. S. Marine Corps Re cruiting Service from the District Headquarters at Savannah, Ga., will be at the Post Office Building in Au gusta, Ga., on July 6th and 7th for the purpose of interviewing young men for enlistment in the Marine Corps. Applicants must be white, single, 8th grade or above education, 18 to 25 years of age, in good physical con dition and of good moral character. Information, application blanks and pamphlets describing the life and op portunities of a United States Marine will be furnished by the recruiting ser geant.
