Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Carter enter
tained the members of the Ace of
Clubs at their home on East Main
Street Saturday night. A buffet sup
per of creamed chicken, cheese, crack
ers, hot biscuits and coffee were serv
ed on the card tables before bridge
was enjoyed. The high score prize
for ladies, a glass dish, was awarded
Mrs. Ira Fales and the high score
prize for men, a deck of cards, was
won by George R. Evans. The guests,
other than club members, included

Mrs. J. W. Ruff entertained
members of the Wednesday After
noon Contract Club at her home on
Marlboro Street. The high score
prize for club members, a breakfast
cloth, was awarded Mrs. J. Norman
Anderson and the consolation prize
for club members, also a breakfast
cloth, was cut by Mrs. Perry A. Price.
The high score prize for guests, hand
kerchiefs, was won by Mrs. M. L
Meadors, and the consolation prize
for guests, also handkerchiefs, was
cut by Mrs. Ira Fales. The floating
prize, a brass vase, was won by Mrs.
Solomon V. Brown. After cards had
been laid aside for the afternoon, the
hoiitess served a delicious salad course
with coffee. Those enjoying Mrs.

After all business was laid aside
the meeting was turned over to Mrs.
G. M. Greene, who had charge of the
program for March. The first num-J
ber on the program, an nstrumental
solo, “To a Wild Rose,” was rendered I
by Mrs. Harold Tinsley, daughter of|
the hostess. Following this a well
prepared paper on “Old Historic and
Beautiful New Gardens of South)
Carolina” was given by Mrs. Greene.
The members were then given pencil
and cards on which were written in
rhyme an ecrostic which, when ferret
ed out, spelled Garden Club. First |
prize was awarded Mrs. F. S. Brown;
second to Mrs. J. E. Mahaffey. Both)
prizes were potted plants.
The hostess, assisted by her daugh
ter, Mrs. Tinsley, served a dtelicious]

who is visiting Mrs. Angus Patterson,

«m Fridsy in Augusta at the home of
Mis. Jake Schremeck. The affair,
lovely in each detail, was in honor of
the wedding anniversaries of Mrs.
Angus Patterson and Mrs. Solomon
Blatt.
At a beautifully appojnted table, a
delirious five course luncheon was
served. The oblong center piece of
daffodils carried out the color motif
of yellow and white, and the table was
eovetedi with an exquisite lace cloth
of yellow satin. At each honor guest’s
place was a corsage of white carna
tions and sweet peas and a compact
which had been bought by the hostess
«>n a recent trip to Cuba. Each guest
was presented with a bottle of im
ported perfume.
After luncheon, bridge was played
m the living room. During the games
<k*licious assorted sweets were served
from huge trays. Prizes, all of which
were lovely compacts, were won hy
Mrs. W. J. Baxley, Mrs. M. M. Ma-
zursky, and Miss Rosalie Spann of
Sumter.

Celebrates Third Birthday.
Mrs. S. E. Moore, of Snelling enter
tained at a delightful children’s party
on Monday afternoon in celebration of
the third birthday of her son, Bobby.
After many interesting games and
contests, in which Billy Richardson,
Frances Fields and Tim Moore won
prizes, the guests were invited into
the dining room, where they were
served ice cream and cookies. The
birthday cake centering the table was
white with yellow’ candle holders and
three white candles.
On departing the little guests were
givbn Easter baskets filled with eggs
and a yellow chicken.
The little honor guest was the re
cipient of many lovely and useful
gifts. Those present were Frances

MRS. MOLAIR ENTERTAINS
BARNWELL GARDEN CLUB.
Mrs. C. F. Molair was hostess to
the members of the Barnwell Garden
Club on Thursday afternoon at her
home on Washington Street. The
rooms were made very attractve by
the use of vari-colored spring flowers.
Mrs. J. J. Bell, president, was in the
chair and a business session was held,
at which time several matters were
taken up and disposed of. A motion
was made that the club be enlarged
from the original dozen members to
twenty-four, the interest manifested
during the past several weeks by
lovers of flowers throughout the town
causing this increase in membership.
