It 1 Club market sales for the fear were $2,026.86, representing an in crease of $532.39 over sales of 1985. Members of the market club number 43 and represent 7 communities. Pro ducts sold on the market club were pork, eggs, milk, cream, fresh and dried vegetables, fruits and flowers. A commission of 5 per cent, of indivi dual sales was charged to defray ex penses of the market, such as paper bags, sale books, meat papers and janitor service. Any farm woman producing on her farm a marketable product and abiding by rules is enti tled to sell at the club market. Foods, Nutrition and Health. Seven home demonstration clubs selected the foods, nutrition and health project for the year. Canning report ed by 4-H members was 2,615 contain ers; by adult members 18,512 con tainers. 80 per cent, of women re ported better balanced meals. 30 per cent reported having conserved fruits and vegetables according to the food budget for their respective families. Clothing. Nine clothing clubs were orgnized with a membership of 109. 45 girls made dresses and 34 entered the coun ty dress review. 15 girls entered doll dresses in the doll dross contest The county winner in the dress review won honorable mention in the State dress review at Winthrop College. 42 club members received certificates. Home Management No project under home management was given in clubs but information to individual members was given on the thrift shelf, laundering hints, built in equipment and kitchen management. House Furnishing. A 4-H Health contest was held with 57 girls participating. Health inspec tion was given' by the county health nurse and county health officer. 45 per cent, of adult members report in stalling sanitary toilets; 75 per cent, report screening houses. Organization and Activities. A 4-H csmp for girls was held at Camp Long in August with 20 girls and leaders present. A 3-day short course for women was held at Gem- son College with. 20 women attending. Eight 4-H members and 3 women at tended the State short course at Win throp College. The District Farm Women’s Council meeting in Colum bia was attended by 66 women from -this-county. Community planning meetings have been held in 4 com munities with fair attendances. In terest was shown in food and feed budgets. A bright outlook for the farm fami ly is noted. Homes are being repair ed, painted, and some equipment, fur niture and furnishings have been pur chased.
