BRIDGE CLUB.
Miss Rosalie Spann was hostess to
the members of the Junior-Smart Set
Bridge Club and invited puests at
eleven tables of bridge at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Perry A. Price on
Marlboro Street Thursday afternoon.
The high scqre prize for club mem
bers, handkerchiefs, was won by Mrs.
W. J. Baxley and the consolation prize,
a set of ash trays, was cut by Mrs.
Angus Patterson. Mrs. Ralph Smith,
Huntsville, Ala., cut the consolation
prize for guests and was awarded an
ash tray, while Miss Willie Bush Dea-
son won the high score prize for
guests and was presented with hand
kerchiefs. Mrs. Janie Benton, of
Sumter, sister of the hostess, was
presented with hose and Mrs. B. P.
Daves, Jr., a recent bride, was also
remembered with finger-tip towels.
At the conclusion of the afternoon’s
play at cards the hostess served ice
cream and cake. Those enjoying Miss
Spann’s hospitality, other than club
members, included Mrs. Thos. M.
Boulware, Mrs. Charlie Brown, Sr.,
Over 50,000,000 acres of farm land
have been destroyed by soil erosion.
Farm population is increasing.
