Jim Bush, who has spent the past
several months in Barnwell with his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie
Brown; Sr., left Tuesday for Ocala,
Fla.,' where he ha< accepted a position
with the Fuller Construction Co.
E. M. Grubbs returned to his home
in Miami, Fla., Wednesday after a
brief visit to relatives an ! friends in
Blockviile. He was accompanied home
by his daughter, Miss Ehrlist Still,
who will make an extended 1 visit in
the land of flowers.

Mrs. Geo. H. Walker delightfully
entertained four little guests at , H£r
estate, “Duncannon”, on Wednesday
afternoon in honor of Sarah English
Patterson, little daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Angus Patterson. The guests
were entertained with pony riding,
treasure hunting and 1 other games.
After an afternoon cf enjoyable enter
tainment Mrs. Walker served ice
cream and cake. Those who enjoyed
this occasion! other than little Miss
Patterson, were Jackie Phillips, Sevens
Molair, Beverly Walker and Anne
Benson Gross.

BRIDGE CLUB.
Mrs. Solomon Blatt was hostess to
the Junior-Smart Set Bridge Club :n
Friday afternoon at her home on
Marlboro Street. The high score prize
f r club members was awarded Mrs.
Perry A. Price, while the consclation
was cut by Mrs. Lessie B. Easterling.
Mrs. Robert A. Patterson was the win
ner of the high score prize for guests.
The three ladies were each presented
with small serving trays as prizes.
The hostess .served a delicious salad
course with coffee at the conclusion of
the afternoon’s play at cards. Those
playing ether than club members in
cluded Mrs. Robt. A. Patterson, Mrs.
Baynard Ellis and Mrs. E. Brown
Towles.
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
CONTRACT CLUB.
Mrs. E. H. Girardeau delightfully
entertained* the members of the Wed
nesday Afternoon Contract Bridge
Club last week at her h me on Burr
Street. At the end of card play it
was found that Mps. Solomon Blatt
had won the high score prize for
club meembers and was presented with
a lovely bunch of duffodills. The con
solation prize, -a wast? : paper basket,
was cut by Mrs. Perry B. Bush, and the
high score prize for guests, a refrig
erator dish, was awarded Mrs. Angus
Patterson. The hostess served a
chicken salad course with c.ffee.

ed into the dining room which was made
most attractive by a color scheme of

CRAVEN-LEMON MARRIAGE
AT BENNETTSVILLE SATURDAY.
Bennettsville, March 7.—Saturday
evening aU 6 o’clock at the Methodist
Episcopal Church in Bennettsville,
Mis s Anne Kathryn Craven and Mr.
Clinton Calhoun Lemon were married.
The chuich was decorated with green
and white as the prevaling colors.
Against a background of banked pines,
the altar was draped in white with
festoons of Southern smilax and a
myriad of white tapers on the choir
loft rail andl altar rail shed.
A program of prenuptial music pre
ceded the ceremony. Mrs. A. L.
Breeden sang “Toujours L’Amour
Toujours” followed by Schubert’s
Serenade, an organ solo by Miss Grace
Mitchell. The wedding song was sung
by Mr. Neville Bennett. With Lohen
grin's Bridal Chorus used as the pro
cessional, the brical party entered the
church. Serving as ushers were
Messrs. Robert Craven, of W’ashing-
ton; David E. Ellison. Jr., of Colum
bia; Dennis Gray Craven, of Winston-
Salem, and Aubrey Harley, of New
berry.
Mis. J. W. Tyson, Jr., was the
bridesmaid and was dressed in yellow
taffeta with gold Juliet cap and san
dals, and carrying bronze snapdragons
tied with yellow tulle. Mr Clinton F.
Calroun served as groomsman. The
maid oi h nor was Miss Anne Iredelle
Jones who. wore green taffeta with
silver Juliet cap and sandalg arid car
ried pink snapdragons tied' with pink
tulle.
The bride entered with her brother,
Mr. E. Gray C'reven, by whom she was
given in marriage. Her wedding gown
was of Duchess iv ry satin of the prin
cess type and trimmed with gleaming
seed pearls. From the peatj Juliet
^cap a veil of illusion extended to the
I tip of the long train. She carried a
white leather bound ritual of her
church ad rned with a lily of the val-

altar by the bridegro m who had en
tered with his test man, his brother,
Mr. Rodman-Lemon. The Rev. Wo d L

mony.
Mendelssohn's Wedding March was
used as a recessional.
The bride is the yougest daughter
of Mrs. E. E. Craven and the late Mr.
C. Craven. She has lived in Bennetts
ville since eaily childhood. She at
tended the University of South Caio-
lina where she was a member of Al
pha Delta Pi sor, rity. Since her
graduation two years ago she has held
a business position in Bennettsville.

William J. Lemon. For two years he
attended Clemson and then entered
the University of South Carolina,
where he was graduated. He was a
member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon
fraternity. He holds a position with
the C. G. Fuller construction com
pany, with his headquarters in Barn
well, where the couple will make their
home. Mr. and Mrs. Lemon left Sat
urday evening for a wedding trip to
Florida end Cuba.
Following the ceremony an informal
reception was held at the Craven
home on ,Cook street for the out-of-
town guests and relatives.
