Our weekly stunt nite went over big Wednesday night with a very good program put on by section No. 3. One of the feature acts was put on by W. Lamb and Willie Wingate. Lamb-was made up as an old colored woman, and Wingate as a colored medicine salesman; the old lady wouldn’t buy any medicine but''the salesman managed to arrange a mar riage. Fowler Boone rendered several numbers on the mouth organ. Mr. Bryan, CEA, spoke on the constitu tion. Capt. Bowen concluded the pro gram with a most interesting and in spiring talk on Stonewall Jackson. Wreck. Some excitement was caused in camp Sunday, the 10th inst., when an auto driven by Folwer Boone turned over between here and Barnwell. Boone had borrowed the car from a friend of his living in the Slaytown community. With Boone at the time were B. Wilson, L. Morris and your reporter, A. Riddock. All are mem bers of the company. After the acci dent all but Boone were rushed to the Veteran’s hospital in Augusta, and the reports that spread around town were something fearful. However, all are getting along nicely, and Riddock returned to camp Friday, the 15th. Armistice Day Exercises. Many of the members of the com pany took advantage of the Armistice pay holiday to go home, but those who were left enjoyed a short talk by Captain Bowen at retreat. After sup- |>er the whole company, all who were in camp, attended! the religious ser vices held by Mr. Inabinet, of Barn well. The sermon was concerned with the benefits of peace. Arthur Riddock, Camp Reporter. Suppose cotton has been selling at 10 cents per pound and doubled in price, selling at 20 cents instead. If at the samf time thA' articles the farmers must buy tripled in price, cot ton at 20 cents would represent less actual purchasing power than it had formerly- at 10 cents. Fair-exchange value, or parity, is specified in the Adjustment Act as the price that will give farm products the same ..PURCHASING POWER per unit that they had in 1909-1914. This period was sought as a basis for fair- exchange value because there seemed to be a stable relationship at that time between the prices of things farmers fold and the prices of the articles they purchased. As parity thus represents a RELATIONSHIP in prices, it does not mean ‘any fixed prices, but may ^ move upward or downward from month to month, as Af the cost of articles farmers buy in creases or decreases, and as the pric£ of the things they sell increases or decreases.
