Negroes Are Injured.

Barnwell sailed Monday from Charles
ton for New York City.
Two negro women, the wife and
daughter of Luther Snelling, of the
Red Oak section of Barnwell County,
were seriously injured Saturday night
but Snelling’s baby escaped unhurt
when the “Hoover cart’ in which they
were riding was struck by a car oc
cupied by Lee Knotts and Leroy Hal
ford, bo.h white, of this city. The
cart was demolished and the mule was
injured, it is reported ,
The two women were carried to a
local physician’s office for treatment.
Snelling is a son of the late Ransom
Snelling, a well-to-do farmer of the
Red Oak section .
W. T. Towne and son, W, T., Jr., of
the Olar seciion, were visitors at The
People-Sentinel office yesterday (Wed
nesday), when the former-renewed his
subscription orf another year.'
Mrs. M. Boyd Connor and daugh
ter, Marian Elizabeth, and mother,
Mrs. M. E. Jenkins, of West Palm
