The Bank of Western Carolina has
declared a quarterly dividend of 3%
per cent. >
Asparagus ghipments continue good,
though the prices are not as high as
hoped for. The dry weather has, had
little if any effect on its growth.
Jack.Frost paid a modest visit to
Barnwell on Friday morning. No kill
ing harm was done. The dry weather
saved the fruit and tender vegetables
growths.

The Comet.—Mr. and Mrs. William
McN&b are the first Barnwell folks to
report seeing Halley’s Comet, now
approaching in the earth’s ^ direction
at high speed. They saw the myster
ious light about half past four on
Thursday morning. It seemed to be
about the size of a plate, a sparkling,
scintillating spectacle. No tail was
visible.

little cousins and friends. It was a
very happy occasion for the little tots,
as well as the older folks. The color
scheme of pink and white was carried
out in the decorations and refresh
ments.
