- Mrs. Mahaffey Loses Brother.
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Mahaffey and
family have returned from Calhoun
Falls, where they were called on ac
count of the tragic death of Haskell
R. Martin, young brother of Mrs.
Mahaffey. The young man was found
dead 1 on the Seaboard track at Cal
houn Falls about twelve o’clock on the
night of December 21st. A singular
coincidence is the fact that a brother,
4- Hoyt J. Martin',, was found dead last
January- about 100 yards’ from the
place of the body of young Martin.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs.
Essie^ Manning Martin; three sisters,
Mrs. Vera Mahaffey, of Barnwell, Mrs.
Ada Abrams, of Goldville, and Mrs.
Maybelle Loving^ of Calhoun Falls;
six brothers, James Martin, Adger
Martin. Willie Martin, Abby and
Floyd. Martin. Funeral services were
held at the graveside at Salem
Church, with the Rev. Mr. Inabinet in
charge. Mrs. Mahaffey’s father, R.
P. Martin, of Calhoun Falls, also died
suddenly on Mother's Day, making
three tragic deaths in this family with
in the past year.
