Emergency Crop Loans
For Producing Crops
All Counties in South Carolina Have
Been Desifnated an “Storm
Stricken” Areas.
June 24th, aim took away a loving-
wife and mother. Mrs. Black, who
was 46 years of age, had been ill for
only three weeks and bore her suffer
ing with true Christian fortitude. She
was a member of the Double Ponds
Baptist Church and her passing leaves
unfilled a place in the .home, church
and community. - .
Funeral services were conducted at
five o’clock Sunday afternoon at
Double Ponds Church by the Rev. L.
G. Payne. Interment was in the
adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Black is survived by her hus-

Black, of Blackville, and Miss Mary
Black, of Barnwell; three brothers,
Martin, Nick and Willie Grubbs; and
three sisters, Mrs. Sara Ray, Mrs.
Leatha Still and Mrs. Willie Still,
who have the sympathy of many
friends in their bereavement.—Con

Washington, June 26.—All counties
in South Carolina have been designat
ed as storm stricken areas and the
emergency crop loan offices operating
in the State have been authorized to
make loans for the purpose of produc
ing crops, feeding livestock and P® - *
chasing seed for forage crops, accord
ing to an announcement here today
by S. M. Garwood, Production Credit
Commissioner of the Farm Credit
Administration. The loans will be
made from the $40,000,000 fund of
the Emergency Crop Loan Act, ap
proved February 23, 1934.
Loan 8 for crop production purposes
including the purchase of fertilizers
and materials for top dressing may
be made with a maximum allowance
of $2.50 per acre, and secured by a
first lien on the crops.
The maximum allowance for loans
to purchase feed for horses and mules
i a $4.00 per head per month; for cat
tle, $3.00; for sheep and goats, 75c;
and for hogs, $1.00. These loans for
feeding must be secured by a first
lien on the livestock to be fed and
may not be made for a feeding period
extending beyond September 1, 1934.
The limit on loans to purchase seed
for forage crops i s $1.00 per acre, the
loans to be secured by a' first lien on
the livestock to be fed with the forage
erop B produced.
The maximum amount which may
be loaned to any individual is $250,
and loans will be made only to appli
cants who are unable to obtain credit
in an adequate amount from other
sources. If the applicant has already
obtained a loan from the emergency
crop loan section in 1934, the total
amount of such loan and the approved
amount of the second loan must not
exceed $250. In all cases loans are
to be made in one installment and all
notes sre to mature October 31, 1934.

Matthews, of Blackville; ten grand
