Bush and Jim Bush visited relatives in Ellenton Sunday. Miss Patricia Dicks returned to Coker College Sunday after spending a week with her mother, Mrs. R. S. Dicks. ' Mrs. G. M. Greene is out again af ter several days illness from flu. t X Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brown left Tuesday to visit relatives at Logoff. Mrs. T. L. Wragg and Mfs. H. L. Buist, of Blackville, were visitors here Friday. Senator Edgar A. Brown and Rep resentative Solomon Blatt returned to Columbia Tuesday morning after spending the week-end at home. They are hopeful that the general assem bly will adjourn this week. Mrs. Lessie B. Easterling and Mrs. B. L. Easterling were visitors in Den mark Tuesday. Mrs. Hayne Hogg, Misses Giaeie Hogg and Ruth Craig were visitors in Augusta Tuesday. Michael Ussery and Riehaid Moody, of Columbia, spent the week-end with Barnwell relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Gaston Bush and Mr. and Mrs. Walker, of Ellenton, were visflors here Sunday. Col. N. G. W. Walker attended fed eral court at Florence this week as a juror. He returned home Tuesday morning, having been excused for the rest of the week. Next week, Emmett E. Gcodson, The People-Sentinel’s linotype operator, will serve in the same capacity. v Dt. and Mrs. W. T. Derrieux, of Columbia, will be th£ guests of friends here for the week-end. Dr. Derrieux will bring to a close,his work here as supply pastor of the Baptist Church. During his ministry hei'e he made many friend s and good wishes of Barnwell people will follow him. A cordial invitation is extended the people of the town and community to attend services on Sunday morning, After a delicious salad course, fol lowed by an iced course, which tfas served by waitresses dressed in pink and green senior cap s and gowns, the guests were invited to the upper hall, which presented a beautiful spectacle. The decorations were in keeping with those of the lower hall. Dancing and contests featured the evening’s enter tainment. Punch was served from an attractive booth during the program. Opt. and Mrs. J. B. Morris visited beginning at 11:30 o’clock. Mr. and Mis. J. CHAPTER MET Oak Grove School Closes. After a very successful session un der the direction cf Mrs. Kate Wingo and Mis s Inez Creech, the Oak Grove school closed Friday. The total en rollment for the year was 60. A feature of the closing was a trip to Barnwell, where the pupils enjoyed a picture at the Baniwell Theatre and later visited the new municipal park. C. L. Zissett. C. L. Zissett, aged about 70 years, died suddenly at his home in West Barnwell Sunday night. His body was laid to rest Monday afternoon in the Reedy Branch Churchyard, the funeraLjservices being conducted by the Rew W. E. Wiggins, pastor of the Barnwell Methodist Church. Mr. Zissett is survived by one daughter and four sens. His wife preceded him to the grave several months ago. Legal Advertisements ESTATE NOTICE. JUNIOR-SENIOR RECEPTION. The Barnwell high school building wa- the scene of the annual Junior- Senior reception Friday evening. The lower hall was artistically decorated for the banquet. Bright flower* and streamers were u*ed to portray the green and white colors of the Senior Class and the green and pink of the Junior Class. Each plate wa* marked by a tiny senior cap bearing the name of the guest. Mis* Gertrude W odwatd, president of the Junior Class and master cf ceremonies, made the welcome ad dress, which was followed by toasts to the/ faculty and to the seniors. These were responded to by Supt. W. W. Carter for the faculty and by Rodman Lemon for the seniois. Tom Hagood gave a most humorous pro phecy for those present.
